| Day 1
Kathmandu Arrival | Dinner
A hearty welcome to the Kingdom by our tour officers or various foreign
language speaking guides. We are transferred to Dwarika's Village Hotel,
a treasure trove of fine Nepalese traditional arts & crafts amidst
5 star splendor and service. We dine this evening in the "Krishnarpan"
Nepalese restaurant a sumptuous nine-course meal.
Day 2
Kathmandu | Breakfast, Lunch
A full day of sightseeing to take in the important historical and cultural
attractions of the Valley. We start the day by visiting the center of
the old city of Kathmandu. The palace of the medieval Malla kings "Hanuman
Dhoka" and the temple dedicated to the living goddess "Kumari" are the
highlights. We visit Baber Mahal Revisited, a resplendently restored old
"Rana" palace, now a setting for shopping local arts and crafts and enjoying
a growing constantly growing selection of fine cuisine. We have lunch
at one of the restaurants. After lunch we visit the city of Bhaktapur,
the best restored of the mediaeval royal cities of the valley. The sightseeing
tour comprises the famous "Golden Gate","Palace of 55 Windows" and the
"Nyatapola Temple" the valley's tallest. We return to Kathmandu City and
our hotel. Rest of the evening at leisure.
Day 3
Kathmandu | Breakfast/Lunch
The first half of the day takes us to Patan, also called "Lalitpur" or
the beautiful city. A city renowned for its arts and crafts, Patan recently
opened its door to the Patan Museum. Nearby are the "Krishna Temple",
"Hiranya Varna Mahavihar" (Golden Monastery) and Mahabodhi Temple said
to resemble the one in Bodhgaya in India. We have lunch at the Patan Museum
Café. We visit the medieval villages of Bungamati and Khokana.
Adjacent to the "Ring Road" circling the valley, these old villages offer
an unspoiled insight into Kathmandu valley's ancient past. We return to
our hotel.
Day 4
Nagarkot - Changunarayan - Bhaktapur | Breakfast, lunch
After breakfast we drive to Changunarayan temple. Considered to be the
oldest temple extant in Kathmandu valley, the temple is dedicated to Lord
Vishnu and built during the Licchavi period in the 4th century. It has
survived the ravages of time and an Islamic invasion from Bengal. We have
a picnic lunch in the vicinity of the temple. After lunch we drive to
nearby Bhaktapur, the oldest and the best preserved of the medieval cities
of the valley also an UNESCO World Heritage Site. After our sightseeing
tour we return to Kathmandu.
Day 5
Kathmandu Departure | Breakfast
We are free today until our departure transfer to the airport.
