A half day excursion which shows you the most beautiful sights
of the southern parts of Vienna Woods. Passing the Roman City
of Baden, which is famous for its thermal springs, we take
you to the romantic Helenental and the former Mayerling hunting
lodge, today a commemorative chapel, where the Crown-Prince
Rudolph, the only son of Emperor Franz Josef, committed suicide
with Baronesse Vetsera in 1889. In the Cistercian Abbey of
Heiligenkreuz (1133) you visit the medieval cloister which
houses the remains of the last Babenberger. Driving by the
Holdrichsmuhle where Franz - Schubert composed his Lied "The
Lindentree", you arrive at the Seegrotte. From there,
after a boat ride on the largest subterranean lake in Europe
you leave Vienna Woods and return to Vienna passing Liechtenstein
Castle. The tour ends at the Opera House.

At the beginning of the evening we welcome you to a leisurely
drive to the Prater and along the festive illuminated "Ringstrasse".
You will see the Johann Strauss Monument, the high jet fountain,
the Opera House, the Hofburg, the Parliament and parts of
the old city. While being served a drink you can experience
the atmosphere of an old Viennese Coffee House. From one of
the hills surrounding Vienna you will have a wonderful view
over the bright lights of our town. To complete the evening
visit a traditional "Heurigen" (typical tavern)
in Grinzing where you will encounter Viennese jollity, music
and beverages. The tour ends at your hotel.

Don't miss the opportunity to get acquainted with the Alps
tour, with the typical landscape of Austria. Driving through
the fascinating region of the lower Alps, you reach the pilgrimage
village of Maria Schulz and the Semmering Pass, once an elegant
health resort of the aristocracy. From there our route takes
you through the wildly romantic ravines of the Adiltzgraben
to Hirchwang, where you can ascend by cable car to the Rax
summit, (2007m above sea level), which offers you spectacular
alpine scenery. On the mountain top lunch is arranged for
you. On the high plateau, you will have time for a short walk.
On the return trip you will be invited to taste the famous
beverages in the village of Gumpoldskirchen.

Mirabell Gardens
Mirabell Gardens were laid out in the 18th century. Maria
and the children were seen dancing around the statue of Pegasus,
the winged horse, and throughout the gardens singing "Do-Re-Mi".
Leopoldskron Castle
The rear side of the castle was used as the Trapp family home.
The Venetian room was copied from the castle and used as the
ballroom.
Hellbrun Castle
This hunting castle was built in the early 17th century by
Prince-Archbishop Markus Sittikus. In the gardens the glass
pavilion was reconstructed for the pleasure of those fans
still returning after 30 years.
Nonnberg Abbey
Nonnberg Abbey is the oldest convent in the german speaking
part of Europe. Maria was a novice there. The baron and Maria
were married here in 1927. The scenes for the movie made here
include the opening with the nuns going to Mass and Maria
coming too late.
St. Gilgen and Lake Wolfgang
Scenery shown at the beginning of the movie was filmed at
Lake Fuschl on the way to St.Gilgen. Like the Mozart family,
visitors from all over the world appreciate the beautiful
village in the Salzkammergut.
Wedding Church Mondsee
In Mondsee Cathedral the film-wedding between Julie Andrews
as Maria and Christopher Plummer as the Baron took place.

composers to numerous lively melodies. Splendid hunts were
held there by Salzburg's Prince Archbishops. Mozart's mother

day on the lakes of the Salzkammergut. You too can experience
the beauty of the landscape just beyond the gates of Salzburg.
With Salzburg in view, we begin our excursion to the scenic
and historical landmarks of the surroundings. We will point
out the impressive hunting Castle Fuschl, where the Prince
Archbishops spent many seasons. Today this is a luxury hotel,
In St. Gilgen we pass the house where Mozart's mother was
born. In St. Wolfgang there is time to visit the famous gothic
winged altar from Michael Pachet and a stop at the authentic
"White Horse Inn" for refreshments and to enjoy
the panorama. Passing Castle Huttenstein on the mythical Krottensee,
we continue along the Mondsee. Along its shores there were
trade and growing settlements as far back as prehistoric times.
The everchanging and contrasting scenery will make this tour
an unforgettable memory.

In the Bavarian Alps on the Obersalzberg stands the former
mountain residence of Hitler. It offers a magnificent view
across the snow-capped peaks of the surrounding mountains.
Passing the Castle Hellbrunn, through Anif we arrive at the
German border. Driving along the Konigssccache, through the
lovely valley and picturesque farmland to Unterau, where we
start our ascent to Obersalzberg. Here we stop to see what
is left of Hitler's mountain compound as well as to enjoy
the wonderful panorama (view of Hitler's "Eagle's Nest").
We then continue down to the Konigsee or Echo Lake, pressed
among the steep mountain peaks. There is time for a stroll
along the lake. On the way back, we stop in Berchtesgaden.
Again there is plenty of time for a look around the village
and for refreshments.

Something very different awaits you, should you decide to
visit the 450 year old Salt-Mines. Past the hunting castle
Hellbrunn, we pass the Austrian-Bavarian border. Along the
Konigsccache valley through the Bavarian mountains, past romantic
farmhouses, we arrive at the highlight of our journey, the
450 year old Salt-Mines of Berchtesgaden. Wearing the traditional
miners' clothes, you enter the mines and hear the historical
as well as legendary tales of the fascinating underground
world. Using the same slides as hundreds of miners before
you, you slide down a 100 feet into the grottos, the magical
world beneath the surface of the earth. With a raft ride on
the salt lake and a miniature train ride we end our romantic
and educational adventure. Afterwards you have a chance to
regain your strength with some Bavarian specialities during
a stop in Berchtesgaden.
